Literature Text

The little flower could sense the trapper’s vines surround her as one connected with her roots. She was lifted gently by the large plant. It then placed her on its stem, brushing against her petals as it reached for the nectar within. The flower’s roots merged with the trapper, against. Its mouth-like blossom turned away from the little flower; giving her some of the freedom it had taken away. Even if both plants were stronger with each than without the little flower hungered more for freedom and the feel of sunlight.
This came from an activity in my writer's group where we tried to cutting down our stories, okay for working out what you prefer but it was painful reading the one I tried to cut down to 25 words

try cutting down someone elses story-- its sometimes easier when you dont have to watch your own work miss something from the edit.

i mean if you cut down someone elses story, you can just keep the parts you think are best or most important. thats a lot harder when you wrote the original, too. but practicing on someone elses story (even if you dont publish it or tell them you tried it-- mum wont care if you use hers!) will help you get good at editing your own.

i have *the hardest* time cutting stuff down. youre already better at it than i am :) been trying for years...
